TX Logistik Invests in Modern Freight Wagons for Intermodal Transport

Troisdorf, November 6th 2020 – TX Logistik AG (TXL) is investing in its freight wagon fleet and has ordered a total of 238 modern double-pocket wagons T3000e. The first wagons for intermodal transport were handed over at the end of October and the full fleet will be delivered in several batches by July 2021. Wagons are equipped with digital sensor modules.

“It’s time for new wagons!” – said Gian Paolo Gotelli, CEO of the company – “After the important investments in multi-system locos, we are proceeding with our investment plan to support the European network growth, buying 238 double pocket wagons for even more efficiency and quality”.

The T3000e wagons, produced by Tatravagonka, can satisfy the highest demands of the market as it allows TX Logistik to transport on its trains, both the latest generation mega semi-trailers and standard trailers, containers and swap bodies, at a maximum speed of 120 km per hour. TX Logistik has also opted for some special fittings to make them as future-proof and individual as possible: the wagons are equipped with a 30-foot container mounting, fast-acting brakes and the latest generation thermostable wheelsets.

In addition, the new TX Logistik T3000e is equipped with the latest digital technology. Thanks to the recent partnership with the Swiss company Nexxiot AG, specialist for digital solutions in the supply chain, TX Logistik and other Companies of Mercitalia Group will launch a pilot project by adopting Nexxiot Globehopper sensor modules. This is a maintenance-free hardware unit for a better tracking of the wagons and a real-time monitoring of all data relevant to maintenance, using IoT sensor technology. Albert Bastius – COO of TX Logistik AG – comments, “This real-time data will give us even greater security and planning capability for our processes – and ultimately provide our customers with even better service.”
